Christopher Solop and Lynn Thompson win maritime jurisdictional issue in dispute involving construction work in the Mississippi River. Chris and Lynn represented Riverside Construction, Inc., whose state court complaint against Entergy Mississippi, Inc. seeking payment for repairs made to a dock, was removed to federal court. Riverside challenged removal on grounds that its contract with Entergy was not a maritime contract and, even if it were, the “savings to suitors” clause entitled Riverside to remain in state court. After multiple briefings and oral arguments on the issue of maritime jurisdiction and a host of other motions, U.S. District Judge Henry T. Wingate ruled in favor of Riverside.
