Oil & Gas Title & Contract Law (Energy/Oil/Gas)
When exploring for oil, gas or other minerals in Mississippi, exploration companies by necessity secure such rights through acquisition of mineral leases, farm-out agreements and exploration agreements. As a result, title examinations are an integral part of these processes. BIS's Mississippi oil and gas attorneys have extensive experience in title examination, preparation of preliminary, supplemental and division order title opinions, as well as preparation of exploration agreements, unitization agreements, farm-out agreements, and similar documents. Stan Ingram, who heads BIS's Energy Law division, has written extensively on various aspects of oil and gas title law, with many of Stan’s writings receiving national publication, including “Curing Titles”, “Mineral vs. Royalty Distinction”, “Geophysical Trespass”, “Mississippi Land Descriptions”, and others.
