In 2017, Brenda was selected by the Mississippi Business Journal as one of the "Top 10 Attorneys - Leadership in Law" recipients. Brenda’s practice encompasses three primary areas: litigation, general corporate matters and teaching. In litigation, Brenda concentrates on complex construction cases, contract disputes, surety law and employment law. She practices in every resolution venue—trials, arbitration, mediation, and administrative hearings with regulatory agencies. Brenda has extensive experience in business and as a manager in both the public and private sectors which makes her uniquely qualified to assist clients with general corporate matters, including the negotiation and drafting of multi-million dollar contracts, and advice from a legal, financial and practical, hands-on perspective.

Brenda’s teaching career spans a period of over thirty years. In 2015, Brenda joined the University of Mississippi School of Law faculty as an adjunct professor teaching first year law students contract drafting and negotiating. She also serves as an instructor for the State of Mississippi’s certified public manager program, teaching ethics, employer/employee rights and responsibilities, and the governmental legislative and appropriations process to state governmental employees. Since 1982, Brenda has taught at Belhaven University, primarily as an adjunct instructor but also served four years as Assistant Professor. She has developed and taught courses in every classroom structure (traditional, accelerated and online) and across multiple subject areas including Business Law, Accounting, Ethics and Public Administration at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Brenda has also frequently spoken for the Mississippi Bar’s "Top 25 Young Lawyers" leadership program and for various other local and statewide organizations.

In November 2011, Brenda was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court as a Commissioner for the Mississippi Ethics Commission and was reappointed in 2015.

Brenda lives in Richland, Mississippi with her husband, Richard, and they have three daughters. Brenda enjoys traveling, particularly in the mountains. She enjoys relaxing with a good book, scrapbooking and almost everything "crafty." She is also an entrepreneur and manages two businesses in addition to her law practice.
